President's brother - Minister Basil Rajapaksa has informed SLFP organisers that a Presidential election would be held early next year.
The announcement was made at a special discussion held at Temple Trees last evening (16) to create awareness among SLFP organisers. The meeting was held under the auspices of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', a minister who wished to be unnamed said that nobody had clapped or expressed enthusiasm when Minister Basil had made the announcement.
He added that Minister Basil is preparing for 'vote rigging' with the collaboration of several officials affiliated to him after sidelining ministers and UPFA bigwigs.
