As cricketers are currently displeased over the whims of Sri Lanka Cricket secretary - Nishantha Ranatunga, a small plot has been hatched to win back their favour, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns.
As an initial step, it was planned by Nushali of the marketing unit and Anura Ranasinghe tasked with school cricket to please former captain Kumar Sangakkara by sending him flowers and an expensive birthday card signed by all SLC workers.
When the card amounting to Rs.2000 was taken to SLC CEO - Ashley de Silva to be signed, Ashley had put a firm stop to the cause. Noting that all players would have to be wished in the same manner as all of them have contributed to the current progress of the game, Ashley has added that at this rate the SLC staff will not have time for any other work.
SLC workers as well as many others who had learnt of this incident has praised Ashley's decision, reports add.
