Ministerial security provided for former Minister Maithripala Sirisena, who was named common candidate, has been reduced.
Police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana stated that this measure came to effect since this morning (Nov. 22) and measures have been taken to reduce the security entitled to a cabinet minister which was earlier provided to Maithripala Sirisena.
However, he added that the security provided for a MP will be maintained.
Steps were taken to withdraw the relevant police officers from their duties since this morning following an order issued by the Ministry of Law and Order and the DIG of North Central province to the Polonnaruwa Police.
