Chairman of the Panadura urban council - Nandana Gunatilleka has refuted media reports citing that he is to crossover to the UNP.
However, he said that after considering the prevailing political situation, he would be compelled to take a decision soon.
Gunatilleka added : As citizens and those involved in politics, though it was long hoped that abolishing executive presidency, a more just electoral system and empowering commissions would take place, they are yet to happen.
Though many have requested the President to take the relevant decision, such a thing is yet to happen, Gunatilleka says adding that there is a few days remaining if such a decision is to be taken. However, if nothing happens, I will take a decision, he adds.
Once a JVP activist, Gunetilleka once even entered the fray as a presidential candidate.
At the moment he also functions as a SLFP organiser of the Kalutara district.
