The UNP Working Committee has decided to back common candidate Maithripala Sirisena at the forthcoming Presidential election.
The decision has been taken this evening (21).
Soon after Minister Sirisena was announced as the common candidate earlier this evening, residents of the minister's home
region - Polonnaruwa had responded with much enthusiasm, lighting firecrackers in celebration, reports say.
