an urgent cabinet revision is to be carried out due to the crack that is opening up in the government. The number of ministerial posts are to be increased to keep the Parliamentarians who are frustrated with the Rajapaksa regime within the government

Minister Maithripala Sirisena has been already confirmed as the common candidate and a large number of ministers are said to be prepared to leave the government with him.
Already, Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero, Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka, MPs Wasantha Senanayaka and Rajiva Wijesinghe have left the government.
