More than 288,085 individuals have been influenced by surges and avalanches in the nation, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said.

As indicated by the DMC, 288,085 individuals fitting in with 78,527 families have been influenced while 22,369 individuals from 6,537 families have been housed in havens.

The administration has trained the important powers to take quick measures to guarantee alleviation for the families hit by the terrible climate.


The spill entryways of a few tanks including the Kalawewa, Rajanganaya, Tisawewa, Nuwarawewa, Nachchaduwa, and Mahakanadarawa tanks have been opened.

As per the Water Management Unit of the Department of Agrarian Development the opening of spill doors were carried out because of water levels of 300 tanks in the Anuradhapira District alone  have arrived at the risk level as a consequence of persistent downpour.
