JHU Invites President Rajapaksa To Be Part Of ‘National Unity Govt’

The JHU today invited President Mahinda Rajapaksa to be part of the National Unity Government which will be formed for 100 days following the victory of Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo, JHU Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka said that they would not allow any party to prosecute President Mahinda Rajapaksa after the Presidential Election.

He also announced that the JHU has decided to extend its support to Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena at the forthcoming Presidential Election.
The JHU also stated that the Common Candidate accepted its proposals pertaining to good governance and strengthening democracy. It was on that grounds, the JHU said, the party decided to extend its support to the Common Candidate.
The JHU and the Common Candidate will enter into a separate agreement with regard to the proposals. However, JHU representatives were not present at the event to mark the signing of the MOU between the parties of the common opposition yesterday (1).
Th JHU stalwart also stated that the agreement between the two parties is aimed at benefiting the entire country, and not only the Sinhala-Buddhist community.
Meanwhile, addressing the same press conference Common Candidate Maithripla Sirisena added that he did not have any secret agreement with any party. “My agreements are open and anyone can examine them without any difficulty”, Sirisena said.
The common candidate also added that Members of the security forces will only be used for security related matters and not as cooks,waiters and helpers at various institutions.
