67th Independence Day Today

The 67th Independence Day festivals of Sri Lanka are at present being held at the Parliamentary grounds at Sri Jayewardenepura, Kotte, under the support of President Maithripala Sirisena.

 Activity will be confined on Sri Lanka-Japan Friendship Road, the Road before the Parliament, the street from Polduwa Junction to the Parliament, street from the Kimbulawala intersection, Pelawatta intersection and the street towards the Parliament from Palam Thuna Junction.

The Independence parade will comprise of 5,922 Tri Forces, police, common resistance power, youth detachment work force and a social troupe of 600 will likewise perform at the service.

The past government had prior wanted to hold the national service in Weeraketiya, Hambantota. On the other hand, the venue was moved to Sri Jayewardenepura by the new government in an offer to slice costs.

Freedom day services will likewise be led on the locale secretariat level in parallel to the principle occasion.
