Safeguard application for Jeyakumary to be taken up today

Legal counselors for Balendran Jeyakumary, who stays in jail for about one year now, will present a safeguard application today (06) at the Colombo judge's court looking for her discharge, taking after exchanges with the acting lawyer general.

The legal counselors have told jdslanka.org site that they trust she would be discharged today itself if the application is acknowledged.

The judge on February 24, for the sixth time, put off the hearing until March 10, because of TID's common appeal for time.


Three youngsters

Jeyakumary and Vibhushika, her girl matured 13 years, were captured by the TID in Kilinochchi on 13 March 2014, on the charge of harboring a suspect needed by police.

Jeyakumary was taken to Boossa detainment camp on confinement requests, while her girl was given to the authority of Mahadevan youngsters' home in Kilinochchi, which goes under the probation and childcare office.

Her spouse kicked the bucket because of a tumor, and her eldest child, 20-year-old worker Balendran Yohan was gunned around paramilitaries in 2006.

The second child, Balendran Kajivan kicked the bucket in shelling as he was headed to government controlled territories amid the last days of the war. On that day, Jeyakumar's third child Balendran Mahendran surrendered to the military at Mullavellivaikkal, however he stays missing.

The mother and girl saw a picture of him at a legislature recovery camp, yet powers denied having such a man under their guardianship.

FR petitions

On 14 January 2014, she recorded a central rights appeal with Jaffna's human rights bonus, and turned into a main extremist of the groups of missing persons. Both Jeyakumary and Vibhushika are members of challenges to request the administration to discover missing persons.

Taking after their capture, they documented FR petitions in the Supreme Court on 12 May 2014, and both will be taken up on March 13.
