Previous clergyman of Economic Development - Basil Rajapaksa has been allowed safeguard by the Colombo High Court today (June 15).
Taking up the case, High Court Judge Sarojini Kusala Weerawardena additionally allowed safeguard to previous Economic Development Ministry Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayatilaka, previous Director General of the Divineguma Department, R.R.K. Ranawaka and Divi Neguma Regional Director Bandula Thilakasiri.
The suspects were discharged on a money safeguard of Rs. 100,000 and four individual safeguards of Rs. 1 million each.
Basil Rajapaksa and the three different authorities were captured on April 22 on charges of misappropriation of Divi Neguma reserves.
Then, Southern Provincial Council Minister D.V. Upul was discharged on a money safeguard of Rs. 25,000 and two sureties of Rs. 1 million each by Colombo Fort Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today.
The remanded Provincial Councilor was created in the witness of the court today on charges of undermining cops of the FCID.
