Sri Lanka's Twenty20 chief Lasith Malinga said that the selectors were utilizing the two T20 internationals against Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium on Thursday and Saturday to observe new players in front of the World T20 competition in India one year from now.
"There are a great deal of new players, and that is something worth being thankful for Sri Lankan cricket. We have around six months until the following World T20. When we are planning to play a World Cup, we need to know how quite a bit of that arrangement we'll be playing, and what opportunities we will need to take a gander at the players we are considering utilizing," said Malinga at a pre-match question and answer session.
"There's no household T20 class in the middle of now and the World Cup. So we need to pick the players who have indicated ability in the last season and work out whether they are suitable for universal cricket. We have to work out which players we can take forward into the World Cup.
"I'd like to pick a decent group and play the same players reliably in the way to deal with the World Cup. Presently is the best time to try. The selectors talked knowledgably and sensibly about the street ahead, and I'm content with the present group. They're every single skilled cricketer," he said.
There has been a great deal of feedback in the nearby media on the prohibition of batsmen Dinesh Chandimal and Lahiru Thirimanne both of whom figured at the last WorldT20 which was won by Sri Lanka.
"We know there are two players who have played for us since 2010, who are not in this squad. We know their abilities. We don't have to take a gander at them once more. What we need is for players who have done well in residential competitions to come into the Sri Lanka side," said Malinga.
"All the new players have done well in the household competition. Dhananjaya (de Silva), Shehan (Jayasuriya) and Milinda Siriwardana have done well and they have to get an open door in universal cricket. This is the open door for them. They are anticipating performing great," he said.
Talking about his own wellness and execution Malinga said, "My harm isn't 100 percent mended. After my surgery I played the World Cup very quickly. Subsequent to having not knocked down some pins for a month and a half, I came into the group and got the most wickets for Sri Lanka. I'm glad about that. Be that as it may, regardless I lacked the capacity give 100 for each penny.
"There may be preferable players over me in Sri Lanka, and I'd like to give them a battle. That is the way you show signs of improvement. In this arrangement, there is a farthest point of four overs, so I think I'll have the capacity to bowl."
Malinga was dropped from the group for the fifth and last ODI against Pakistan after a poor arrangement where he took just four wickets in four matches yet completed as Sri Lanka's driving wicket-taker.
"Ideally later on I can rejoin the one-day group after I chip away at my wellness. In the event that the selectors and commander feel I'm sufficient, I'll anticipate playing. I don't have colossal desires. I'll play the matches as I get them," Malinga said.
The two nations have met in 12 T20 Internationals with Pakistan winning 7 and Sri Lanka
