The UPFA is sure to win the anticipated parliamentary decision by securing 117 seats, says previous president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He is giving a meeting to BBC Sandeshaya.
It could be seen then in respect to whether he would be named the executive, he said.
Rajapaksa said he took a wrong choice when he called the presidential surveys on January 08, with two years of his residency remaining.
He said he took the choice on the counsel of his MPs and pastors, not of soothsayers.
Didn't offer cash to LTTE
The ex-president rubbished the claim by head administrator Ranil Wickremesinghe that his organization had offered cash to the LTTE, until it focused on Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in a bomb assault.
It is a misrepresentation focused at putting down the triumph picked up, he said.
