Karu Jayasuriya Unanimously Appointed As Speaker Of Eighth Parliament

UNP National List MP Karu Jayasuriya was consistently named as the Speaker of the Eighth Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

He was chosen as the first obligation of the inaugural session of the Eighth Parliament.

His name was proposed by PM Ranil Wickremesinghe and was approved by Nimal Siripala de Silva.
Jayasuriya took pledges as the Speaker and alternate MPs took promises before him from there on.
