The Ministry of Agriculture said the import of maize has been allowed.
Accordingly, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said the import of 225,000 metric tons of maize from India has been allowed.
The minister also said more than 100,000 metric tons of maize has already been imported into Sri Lanka.
He said animal feed prices will be reduced to some extent with the import of maize and added that the import was delayed due to the high price of maize in India.
