In the wake of Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) decision to suspend the membership of nine members, Ports, Aviation and Shipping Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said that they would not leave the party even if they hit or chased them away.
The Central Committee of the SLFP recently decided to suspend the membership of nine members including former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge until the disciplinary action against them is concluded.
Accordingly, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Mahinda Amaraweera, Jagath Pushpakumara, Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, Shantha Bandara, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Ranjith Siyambalapiriya and Suren Raghawan, those who joined the present Government accepting ministerial portfolios were suspended.
"Certain opportunists who joined the SLFP and those who defected for their own advantage are now blaming us for accepting ministerial posts, Nimal Siripala de Silva said Commenting on the matter.
" Even if they hit us and chase us away we will not leave the party," he said.
