Ashok Priyantha, Minister of State for Home Affairs, said that the cost of this year’s Independence Celebrations is 20 crore rupees.
The Minister of State mentioned that an estimate of more than 57 crore rupees was received, and the Presidential Secretariat and the Ministry of Home Affairs discussed together from time to time and reduced it to 20 crore and they are trying to reduce it further.
He said this while addressing a press conference held today (12) at the Government Information Department.
He also said that the Independence Day parade will start from Kollupitiya Junction, and people will have the opportunity to watch it from Kollupitiya Junction to Galle Face.
