Names of several Samagi Jana Balawegaya grassroot level activists have been cut off when preparing the nomination list for the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha, reports say.
The slashed names also include Vipula Peiris, the former opposition leader of the Kelaniya PS.
It had also happened in a backdrop where the SJB had unanimously decided to give nominations to former LG members.
According to sources, a conflict between Mr. Peiris and MP Sarath Fonseka had led to this.
‘Sri Lanka Mirror’ also learns from reliable sources that Fonseka had threatened to leave the party if Mr. Peiris’ name is added to the nomination list.
It is also said that SJB General Secretary – Ranjith Maddumabandara, Harsha Rajakaruna, Kabir Hashim and many others also know of this clash.
