Professionals’ unions have said that if steps are not taken within this week to stop unfair taxation, they will take strict professional action from next week.

Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, the media spokesperson of the Government Medical Officers Association, which represents the union, stated that he will send a letter to the President requesting a discussion today.
  Mr. Niroshan Gorakanage, General Secretary of the All Ceylon Port Public Employees’ Union, which represents the union of professionals, said that all the trade unions of the port will gather tomorrow and take a decision.
