Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank, said that in order to build the economy, ‘a more difficult journey has to be continued in one direction’.
He noted that challenges and difficulties may still come.
In an interview with BBC Sinhala, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said that steps will be taken to bring inflation to a single value by the end of this year.
He noted that one of the challenges is to stabilize the government’s debt in the next 10 years after the successful completion of debt restructuring negotiations.
He also said that the reforms in the IMF agreement should be implemented in the next four years.
