Four new multi-story car parks in Colombo!

Four multi-storey car parks will be constructed in Colombo with the aim of reducing the traffic congestion in Colombo and its suburbs.

According to the instructions of Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, the Urban Development Authority (UDA) would build these car parks with the contribution of both public and private sectors.
 
Two of these car parks will be built by the UDA and the other two car parks will be built by the private sector.

Three car parks are to be constructed in front of the SLT Head Office in Colombo, near the old fish market and in Narahenpita.

Meanwhile, the Union Place car park at Colombo 02, which was built by the private sector, was declared open by Minister Ranatunga yesterday (25).

The car park was constructed by Access Engineering Pvt. Ltd at a cost of Rs.1,400 million. The ownership will be transferred to the UDA after 30 years.

This eight-storey car park has the capacity to park around 300 vehicles and the car park is operated through computers.

All parked vehicles are provided with security.

Accordingly, 20% of the monthly income is contracted to be given to the UDA.
