The moment “JVP” name is emerged, minds of the people of Sri Lanka go back to 88/89 devastation. However, many people think that JVP/National People's Power (NPP) is the only option to rule this country. If that is the case, if NPP gains the power of this country, will there be any assurance that the threats we get from foreign countries like China, who are waiting to capture the power of this country, would disappear?
Just like the other parties that have gained power & ruling this country at the moment, will the leaders of the National People's Power also beg for the support of Chinese?
With the bilateral agreements this country is having with the Chinese government at the moment, it is very hard to consider that the NPP will not be caught up in China's plotting & conspiracies. Because even if there is no power, the socialists attached to the JVP or NPP have already started dancing according to Chinese tunes. Although no one knows, these NPP/JVP people are going to act out a brand new play with China.
Janatha Vimukti Peramuna is the only party in Sri Lanka that raises its voice against "Chinese colonization" and is the only party which seems to be worried, since the ruling community of this country are following the examples of the Chinese state.
But if we look at the congratulatory message sent by the Janata Vimukti Peramuna to the party on the occasion of the centenary of the Chinese Communist Party, we see something completely different.
It is not surprising that anyone who reads this message, which consists of about 430 words, will have doubts. The message praised the Communist Party's efforts to bring "modernity and prosperity" to the Chinese people and rescuing them from the clutches of Feudal Lords a hundred years ago and for the efforts to take the lead in the fight against Western imperialism. It also states that the Communist Party believes it will strengthen "coordination among left parties to move the world towards socialism".
Clearly, this message clarifies the Janata Vimukthi Peramuna's attitude towards China in more than just estrangement.
This is not the first time a congratulatory message has been sent to the disgraced Communist Party of China. For example, in 2017, a message was sent to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party, which referred "Xi Jinping as "brother". Not only that, the party's efforts to establish a moderate and prosperous society in an all-round manner had been appreciated.
Looking at this evidence, there is no doubt that JVP's policies are compatible with Maoists.
Perhaps, the party is trying to show the world that they hate China and scolds them publicly in Sinhalese and sending these types of congratulatory messages in English secretly.
A meeting between National People's Party Leader Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong was also held last year. The economic crisis and the political situation in Sri Lanka were discussed at this meeting and it was mentioned that the focus was on increasing the cooperation between the parties. Vijitha Herath and two political officers of the Chinese Embassy had also attended this meeting.
Although the reaction of socialists towards China is ambivalent, it is hard to accept that JVP has such ambivalence about China trying whatever the possible ways to surrender this country.
What the people of Sri Lanka should pay attention to is, that these socialists are showing a good face to China & struggling so hard to pretend in front of the Sri Lankans to prove that they hate them. Because it is clear from these things, that there is a great doubt that if JVP comes to power, the rulers who ruled this country for the last 75 years have already sold half of the country, and the rest will be sold by them secretly. This like “exchanging ginger for chilli”.
