The ruling party is having trouble displaying its majority in Parliament on the 24th! Ten of them have already travelled abroad!

The polling to be held in Parliament on the 24th to remove the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission, Mr. Janatha Ratnayake, has become a very heated one.

This is due to the fact that around 10 ministers representing the ruling party are currently abroad.

The ruling party has a group of 120 MPs in the Parliament and if these 10 are not present in the House at the time of polling, the number of MPs will become 110.

In order for this resolution to be passed, the ruling party needs to get the majority of 113 members present on that day.
