I’m talking about the burning issues of the people in Parliament – Sajith

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said unlike some political parties in the country, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has not invested money in islands, businesses or other profitable ventures.

He also said the Samagi Jana Balawegaya invested money in the ‘Husma’ and ‘Sakwala’ programmes.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said this yesterday (29) on the occasion of donating a bus worth Rs. 5,000,000 to Minuwangoda Reggie Ranatunga Primary School under the Sakwala programme.
The Opposition Leader said they are not doing all these activities with the expectation of winning positions, titles or power and even if some create false news that Samagi Jana Balawegaya will join the Government, they are never ready to betray the people and gain power.

“It was reported in the media that the MPs of Pohottuwa had complained to the President that Sajith Premadasa was wasting the country’s money by asking questions in the Parliament.” The Opposition Leader said that he was happy to see it.

Premadasa said he is talking in Parliament about the people suffering from thirst, hunger, lack of water for cultivation, about school students, about drug problems and many people get hurt when talking about these burning issues and these problems are being talked about so that the Government can focus on them and find solutions.

The Opposition Leader said that pointing out these things is not a waste of Parliament’s time and said that unlike previous oppositions in Parliament who took commissions from the Government and did not attack the Government, he and the present Opposition are not engaged in political deals which is why these types of accusations are made against him and the Opposition.
